Rainbow needs renovating

Dear Mr Guiton

Thanks for your email ,

Colin Lambert's civic sculptures are all over the place in America and the Americans seem to look after their works of art

his commissions are always in the region of $50,000 , which makes Hemel's Rainbow worth 25,000  and you can't find anyone to repair it SHAME  , it looks as though it has been repaired in the past, but whoever stuck some tiles back on doesn't seem to appreciate what a rainbow is as the tiles  seem to be mismatched , how your local councillors has the gall to a photo shoot in front of it recently is beyond me , I'll repair if for you for 500.00 and make a better job than the last person who tried !!  it would of course help if there were  detailed pictures of the Rainbow when it was commissioned , but knowing your lackluster council i dubt if you have any

Regards

Mike Child

Dear Mr Childs,

I write in relation to your comments regarding the Rainbow Art work in Hemel Hempstead Town Centre.

The Rainbow was installed in the town in 1993 and was sculpted by Californian artist  Colin Lambert. The rainbow was originally open to the public and children were constantly using it as a climbing frame, so the decision was taken to place the fence around the rainbow and plant flowers to prevent further damage.

The tiles do come off the structure from time to time and repairs are needed to replace them, unfortunately this is a result of the years of the children climbing on it. As the artist who made it now lives back in California it is difficult to find someone to make permanent repairs. I am currently looking for someone to make the repairs you suggest.

Regards

Jim.

Dear Mr Child's,

I have been passed you complaint to investigate.

I am responsible for the fountain located within the pedestrian area. Could you please clarify if this is the fountain you are referring to?

Thanks

Jim

Dear Mr. Child,

Thank you for sending me a copy of your e mail concerning the flooded underpass at the magic roundabout. I have forwarded this on to see if this matter can be rectified a.s.a.p. I had not been aware of the situation.

YOurs sincerely

17th September , Underpass still flooded but receding slightly !!

10th September , underpass still flooded !!!!

Emailed to the council on the 4th September 2008

On Wednesday the 3rd September I had occasion to walk from Boxmoor to the Town centre , on passing through the underpass on the Magic Roundabout , I was appalled by the obscene graffiti which appears there , on discussing this with a Hemel friend she had been reported it 3 years ago with no action to date , secondly and what was more important to me at the time was thet I had to wade through 4 inches of water to get to the town arriving with two wet feet !!!
